Emotion in Motion
Energy cannot be created nor destroyed - it can only move from one form to another.
Emotions are energy.
Think about it.
When we are joyful, excited, or hopeful our systems are charged and we feel uplifted, energized, invigorated. From this place we are more inclined to connect to life in ways that maintain our elevated feeling state.
But, when we are feeling fear, anxiety or sadness, the energy presents differently. It may feel tamped down, stuck, or frenetic. These feelings cause us to want to shut down, numb, or distract. We want to disconnect rather than connect.
Since the last year and a half, has been such a doozy emotionally with heavy doses of fear, anxiety, sadness and anger, it’s more important than ever to care for our physical bodies and mental health.
Attuning to our emotions, feeling them and then MOVING them is so important.
Did you know that when animals are stressed, they shake in order to release that stress from their bodies?
Whether, you literally shake, go for a walk, run, do some light yoga, dance or swim, express your emotion through motion.
Not only does movement produce endorphins - feel good chemicals that help us to feel better - processing the energy of intense emotion through our bodies ensures it doesn’t get stuck in our tissues, creating a stress and inflammation cycle which can lead to ill health physically, emotionally and mentally.
How do you put your emotion into motion? I’d love to hear!
