Taking Joy in the Little Things

I don’t know about you, but I’m savoring spring. The buds on the trees feel like small miracles. The sun shining and the grass turning green reminds me that even in the midst of the pandemic, there is always new life. It’s such a strange tension to hold - suffering and death, rejuvenation and life. I’m reminded to be reverent and realize what a blessing it is to be alive and to be able to breathe in the fresh air of spring.

I’m taking joy today in:

  • Little finches darting around, chasing each other from branch to branch, chirping away happily!

  • Patrick Beach's yoga class that I took on Alo Moves this morning. It was creative and very challenging! I had the honor of attending a pop up class he held in Seattle a few years back. I was and am still so impressed by the strength and steadiness he exudes in his teaching and practice.

  • I made a delicious smoothie with a major dose of antioxidants

    • 1 banana

    • 2 cups of spinach

    • 1/4 cup each of frozen blueberries and cherries

    • 1 tsp Spirulina - I like this brand

    • 1 Cup Coconut Water from a thai coconut

  • Walking barefoot and sitting in the grass in my backyard. Looking at screens all day can cause me to feel exhausted and restless. Connecting with the earth is a great way to reduce stress and bring equilibrium back into the body. Here is a good explanation of why “earthing” or “grounding” is beneficial in our tech and screen heavy world.

  • Dance Church! Talk about pure joy! Moving my body with no constraints is an incredible source of joy, creativity and pure fun. Check them out!

I hope you all are taking good care of yourselves and find small ways to bring some joy into your days. xo
