Supercharged Hot Chocolate with Reishi
Hi friends,
Personally, I find having something delicious to sip on brings some extra joy to my days, so I wanted to share what I’ve been drinking with you recently.
This year I’ve been doing some experimentation with warmer drinks infused with medicinal mushrooms. First, it was my Lion’s Mane and Chaga Chai and now a supercharged Hot Chocolate with Reishi.
In creating these drinks, I am not only wanting to ensure that they taste delicious but that they provide immune boosting and overall health benefits as well.
In this recipe I use Roasted Dandelion Tea as the base. Dandelion Root is supportive for both liver and digestive health. It naturally supports the body’s detoxification process. Proper detoxification is essential so that we are not accumulating unwanted toxins and other troublemakers in our system that can feed viruses and bacteria and lower immunity over time.
Reishi known as the “mushroom of immortality,” has many health enhancing qualities. A few among them are its immune boosting properties and high levels of antioxidants. Reishi is also a known adaptogen, so it supports the body in combating stress.
Cacao is mineral rich - high in magnesium, calcium, and potassium. It is also a great source of iron and is VERY high in antioxidants. It’s a natural mood booster and can be supportive in fighting depression and anxiety. With a hefty dose of fiber, our microbiome, colon health, and blood sugar all benefit.
To make this delicious supercharged hot chocolate you’ll need:
12 oz Roasted Dandelion Tea (hot)
1 tbsp Cacao
1tsp Reishi
1tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Cardamom
1/4 cup Raw Cashews
1-2 Medjool Dates
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend on high until liquefied and frothy.
If you don’t have a high speed blender, it can be helpful to combine the cashews, medjool date(s), and tea together and blend first, then strain through a nut mylk bag, before adding back to the blender to blend with the remaining ingredients.
Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think!
Sending my love,
Kaitlyn
